| The attached photo shows an exhibit of an American
doughboy that we created and installed in France. I want you and your
comrades to know that he is an Engineer, as indicated by his collar brass
and the way he is wearing his equipment. He represents the entire
American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) of WWI at the museum in Compiegne, France,
where the Armistice ending WWI was signed. It is a UN-designated “world
historical site” and will be visited by hundreds of thousands of people
during the upcoming 90th anniversary of the armistice, in 2008. Those
visitors’ view of the American soldier of that time will be of BRO engineer.
